OUTDOOR FESTIVAL WEDDING IN LILA’S WOOD WOODLAND WEDDINGS, WITH STRETCH TENTS, BBQ FOOD, TIPI’S!
“We wanted to have an alternative wedding as this wasn’t a position Chloe and I saw ourselves being in. We grow up and always imagine yourselves marrying a man and the typical fairy tale. But we fell in love with each other for who we are not what we are. We thought where and what can make our day most magical for us. We love to have fun and started to think a festival style wedding suited us down to the ground. So, we went on the hunt for the perfect place and finally found Lila’s Wood Woodland Weddings.”
When Catherine and Chloe first got in touch with me about their Woodland wedding in Tring, we were so excited – they were planning the most insane woodland wedding with a humanist ceremony, a live band and plenty of fun stuff like games, hammocks and quirky touches. Catherine and Chloe are the loveliest people and we couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding! We met Catherine at another wedding years ago, so this was an honour!
Bridal prep
Sarah rocked up at a hotel near to the venue with Chloe and co, and Dan arrived at their home where Catherine was getting ready. It was really chilled, because everyone was in a good mood. Catherine wore a lovely dress from Hammonds and Chloe wore a really similar dress by Stella York from Fleur De Lys, and they looked so perfect. They both had hand tied flowers made by Wetherley, sustainable, locally grown and beautifully simple.
The outdoor ceremony
The wedding took place at Lilas Wood, Woodland Weddings, and was an intimate humanist ceremony with a couple of nice readings. They had personal vows they wrote themselves, which brought pretty much everyone to tears. Their dog was also there in a bow tie, just to watch things over, and he sat with the bridesmaids like the good boy he is! After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then they were showered with confetti.
The party
The wedding reception took place in and around the stretch tent-tipi in Lila’s Wood, which was adorned with lots of locally grown natural flowers, giant balloons, succulents and personal touches. It was so unique.
It was a sunny, cloudless day, which was what the couple had hoped for. While the guests played lawn games, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends. My favourite photo from the portraits is of Catherine and Chloe at the entrance to the woods with no distractions, just light shining through the trees, bunting and some twinkling fairy lights.
During the reception they had live music, which went down a storm. The DJ got the party started almost immediately after dinner, and iRock really took the party to another level later on, too. For the meal they had a pulled meat van, and it was absolutely delicious. After dinner they had some wonderful speeches, then the party got started and we all went to the bar. They also had a photobooth, which everyone loved – especially me because the guests all wore the props on the dancefloor. Woodland Weddings Lila’s wood is full of lots of quirky nooks and crannies – Seated areas under tipi’s, log fires in the evening, hammocks, lots of games, just awesome.
