A wedding at St James’ College in Cambridge; Welcome to Koren & Ben’s Wedding

We’ve decided to take a look back at the wedding of Koren and Ben at possible one of our favourite ever venues to shoot, the chapel at St James’ College in Cambridge.

The groom’s party were busy getting ready at Ben’s family home and it was great to see that everyone looked so comfortable and relaxed- a really nice touch for the big day. They only had to YouTube how to tie a tie, but we’ll let them off! Koren was with her girls and glam squad, a little nervous for their big day, but still managing to beam a huge smile.

The details at this wedding were simply stunning. Koren had everything laid out as per the tradition; something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

We arrived a the beautiful chapel of St James’ College in Cambridge packed full of stunning, stained glass windows allowing all of the natural, Summer light to pour in.

Koren rocked up to the venue in an old, classic car, very much complimenting the older choice of venue, deep in the heart of Cambridge. Her bridesmaids wore deep, maroon coloured dresses and Koren had matching maroon flowers in her bouquet to delightfully pick out those colours and make them stand out on this fine, Summer’s Day.

Guests arrived and sung song in the beautiful, archaic chapel. Koren and Ben took their vows in front of the vicar and joined in with singing hymns which echoed effortlessly around the chapel. Tears from both Koren and Ben were flowing as they approached the end of their ceremony ready to be transported across to Bassmead Manor, but not before we could take some incredible couple shots around the grounds of St James’.

The Summer sun was shining and the breeze was blowing perfectly so we could capture the moment that Koren’s veil went floating through the air.

We are really proud of these gorgeous couple shots against the old building, Koren’s white dress and Ben’s Blue suit colours really popped against the contrast of the old, stone building.

Time to head over to Bassmead Manor and the couple were greeted with bubbles; something we’d not seen before but was really fun to capture and provided great childlike entertainment from all of the guests. Pimms at the ready and time for the canapes to come out, we took the opportunity to take some group shots on this sunny July afternoon. . We love shooting in the Summer because of all of the bright colours guests wear!

With a bit of fun in the sun had, it was time to move inside for the wedding breakfast. Each table was named after a country the couple had visited, with a little flag on each table centre piece. Tables set, guests getting hungry, it was time to welcome the new Mr & Mrs [insert last name].

The couple’s cake was a gorgeous red tone, with gold glitter and a posy of Summery flowers as its décor. Champagne was poured at the ready for toasts and the speeches begun.

Time to chase the sunset (or golden hour as we like to call it) and Bassmead did not disappoint with its famous bridge setting. We strolled around the grounds to capture the loveliest images with the brightest of blue skies contrasting beautifully with the cornfields and continued to follow the sunset getting shots of the beautiful shadows the sunset was casting on the couple.

Cutting the cake outside as it was such a beautiful day and we captured some gorgeous wide shots of the couple performing their first dance in the courtyard. A special moment added to a really special and memorable day. This was followed by a bit of dancing outside. We had a bit of fun watching ladies navigate their stiletto heels on the grass and it was almost time to wrap up.

A good day had by all in one of our most favourite venues to shoot at St James’ College followed by our absolute favourite, Bassmead Manor.
