Birtsmorton Court Wedding with Claire and Ben!
2017 took us to another great venue for the first time, the lovely Birtsmorton Court. Its strange to think that even though we’ve shot over 200 weddings, we’re still discovering new venues. We love going further afield for this reason, and although we have our ‘favourite venues,’ going to new venues sets alight a new aura of creativity and fun. Its never a bad thing if you’re booking photographers that aren’t exactly seasoned to the venue you’re getting married at! Fresh eyes, perhaps?
Birtsmorton Court is a breathtaking moated grange, built in the 15th Century and set in the countryside. Dan is a huge history buff, so when he heard that Claire and Ben were getting married in what sounds like a moated castle, we were well on board! In real life its just as awe-inspiring as you’d expect. Claire and Ben both got ready on site at Birtsmorton Court. The place is pretty big so there wasn’t much chance of bumping into each other, and the entire day went as smooth as the morning.
A fun, laid back family affair wedding.
Claire and Ben got married in the oldest part of Birtsmorton Court, followed by reception drinks and live music outside. This was right on the moat, and as they opted for a small ceremony, felt really personal and with the sun shining was just such a blessing for them. Beaming sunshine in October – I bet they weren’t expecting that! We went off for 10 minutes alone to soak up the ‘just married’ feeling and we got some beautiful portraits of them together. These two were just naturals and a real laugh to photograph.
As you can see, Claire and Ben opted for bright colours with an autumnal feel, and personal touches of board games tied in. As a family, they enjoy playing board games and have a love of lego, and even have matching tattoos incorporating monopoly and cluedo. We thought this made the favours and overall styling super personal to them, which is what weddings are all about, really.
